So what is the Embarrassment Test and why does it work so well?
Quite simply, it’s a technique to apply to any conversation you are having. Pay careful attention to your embarrassment emotion during the conversation; it will give you critical, immediate insight into your true priorities, any gaps, and to your strengths.
I’ve found that the Embarrassment Test instantly evaluates the content of the conversation against the complete canvas of your values, knowledge, priorities, and experience. The subjects that cause this embarrassment are worth paying attention to, they are true priorities that need to be resolved one way or another. If you can have the conversation without feeling embarrassed then you’re good to go, and should feel confident you have the material covered.
Note that it’s up to you what you do with this information; you don’t need to admit outwardly to your emotion. In a nutshell, that’s it.
I developed this test over 25 years ago, and have been using it ever since. I shared it with my team, colleagues, and friends and many of them use it on a regular basis.
